In collaboration with the Ministry of Energy (MoE) and other Zambian government stakeholders, GET FiT Zambia is actively creating the framework for Round 2 of the program, the 100 MW GET FiT Zambia Small Hydro Tender. In line with the REFiT Strategy, this tender will support the development of small hydro projects up to 20 MW of installed capacity.
The tender process will include a Prequalification Procedure (PQ) in Q4 2018 followed by up to three successive Request for Proposal (RfP) windows between 2019 and 2020 to award the full 100 MW of capacity allocated to this tender. Additional PQ rounds may be implemented in 2019 as required. Read the full announcement. Further details will be forthcoming about a pre-tender launch event to be held in Lusaka. Please also check www.getfit-zambia regularly for updates.
REFiTs for small hydro projects are currently being developed by the Energy Regulation Board (ERB) with support from Power Africa’s Southern Africa Energy Program and GET FiT Zambia. These REFiTs will be the base tariff used in Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) for projects supported under the GET FiT Small Hydro Tender. The draft presentation by ERB from the first stakeholder engagement held in Lusaka on 24 September is attached along with REFiT Model Inputs. Comments on the presentation and REFiT model inputs are due by 8 October and should be sent to rmuyangwa@erb.org.zm with info@getfit-zambia.org in copy.
